Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman Promotes 11 to Partner Seven Senior Associates Also Named Counsel

San Francisco (December 1, 2006): Noted law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman today announced that it has promoted 11 lawyers to partner effective January 1, 2007.
“Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman believes strongly in rewarding those attorneys who consistently deliver positive outcomes for our clients and advance our firm by working collaboratively to provide high-value client service using innovative approaches and solutions,” said Jim Rishwain, Chair-Elect of the firm. “This latest class of partners reinforces that belief and they will play a key role in helping to advance our firm’s tremendous 140-year-old legacy.”
The new partners are:
- Christian A. Buerger (Washington, DC): Buerger focuses on real estate transactions, including commercial leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, financing and real estate investment trusts. A Princeton University graduate, he holds a JD from Harvard Law School.
- Richard S. Franklin (Washington, DC): Franklin focuses on estate planning, trusts, estate administration, taxation and individual retirement account planning. Franklin holds a LLM in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law and a JD from the University of Alabama School of Law and is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
- Thomas Klaus Gump (New York): Gump focuses on debt and equity finance for unregistered offerings, corporate governance and general corporate matters, representing investors and issuers in private equity and venture capital transactions, as well as financial institutions and borrowers in secured and unsecured commercial loans, real estate conduit loans, mezzanine loans, construction loans, venture debt facilities, project finance, leveraged buyouts and other Uniform Commercial Code-governed transactions. A graduate of Georgetown University, he holds a JD from the University of Michigan.
- Rachel B. Horsch (San Francisco): Horsch practices real estate transactional law, including acquisition and disposition, financing, joint ventures and land use transactions involving office, hotel, residential, retail and industrial real properties. A University of California Berkeley graduate, she holds a JD from Boalt Hall School of Law.
- David M. Koeninger (San Francisco): Koeninger is a corporate, securities and finance lawyer whose practice includes public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, project financings, tax-exempt financings, credit facilities and strategic transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. He is a graduate of Stanford Law School.
- Jack E. Little, Jr. (Houston): Little focuses on product liability and commercial litigation, and has served as lead trial counsel in numerous product liability, general negligence and commercial matters. He holds a JD from the University of Houston Law Center.
- James J. Masetti (Silicon Valley/Palo Alto): Masetti focuses on public and private finance, M&A and other transactional matters as well as ongoing general corporate governance matters, with a particular emphasis on the technology sector. He holds a BA from Stanford University and received his JD from Santa Clara University School of Law.
- J. Gregg Miller (San Francisco): Miller represents developers, managers, owners and operators of residential, agricultural, retail, recreation, office and industrial properties located throughout North America on acquisitions, financing, development, leasing, sales and related transactions. A graduate of Yale University, he holds a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
- JiJi Park (Los Angeles): Park practices corporate, real estate and regulatory law, with experience in M&A, private equity, purchase and sale transactions, gift cards and money services businesses. She graduated from Harvard University and received her JD from Columbia University School of Law.
- Scott Pivnick (Northern VA): Formerly a trial/appellate attorney for the Civil Division of the US Department of Justice, Pivnick concentrates on intellectual property matters, focusing on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation, domain name disputes, electronic commerce and client counseling. He received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law where he teaches trademark law and patent enforcement.
- Paul Tummonds, Jr. (Washington, DC): Tummonds’ practice focuses on land use, zoning and historic preservation in the District of Columbia. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he holds a JD from Wayne State University Law School.
Pillsbury further announced that it promoted seven senior associates to the title of counsel. They are litigator Matthew Anzaldi (Washington, DC); global sourcing lawyer Benjamin Dean (Washington, DC); corporate and securities-technology lawyer David Levine (Silicon Valley); IP lawyer Christine McCarthy (Northern VA); international trade lawyer Sanjay Mullick (Washington, DC); finance lawyer Jeanne Naughton-Carr (New York); and global sourcing lawyer Michael Steinig (Washington, DC).
