David Patariu is a senior associate in the law firm’s Intellectual Property practice, and is located in the Washington, DC office. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation with an emphasis in a variety of Internet, software, electrical, chemical, pharmaceutical, and energy technologies. Mr. Patariu works on day-to-day case management from inception through trial: he develops invalidity and non-infringement positions; prepares dispositive motions and briefs, discovery, claim construction briefs, and summary judgment motions; provides status updates to clients; finds and works with experts; communicates with opposing counsel; and appears regularly in court. He also has experience with intellectual property counseling activities, and analyzes trademark and patent licensing matters on behalf of clients ranging from startup to large corporations in the medical, Internet, e-commerce, computer, and energy industries. David has experience litigating patent cases across the country, including cases in the Northern District of Illinois, the District of Delaware, the Northern District of California, the District of Minnesota, and the Eastern District of Texas.
While in law school, David was senior editor of the International Law Review was a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Amy J. St. Eve of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Prior to law school, David worked in the biological sciences as a pharmaceutical industry and research scientist, and in software engineering as a programmer, web developer, e-commerce manager, and data warehouse developer.
