C. Douglas Floyd
|
Mr. Floyd has worked on complex, multi-party and multi-forum litigation matters as both a practitioner and professor for over three decades with particular emphasis on antitrust, class action, multi-district and appellate litigation.
Mr. Floyd joined the Office of the Judge Advocate General, United States Navy in 1968 shortly after graduating from law school. In 1971, he was chosen as a law clerk for Warren E. Burger, then the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, during the 1970 and 1971 terms. Upon leaving the Supreme Court, he joined what was then known as Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in San Francisco, where he worked with another former Supreme Court Law Clerk and Pillsbury partner, Francis R. Kirkham. (Mr. Floyd later would have the honor of becoming the Francis R. Kirkham Professor of Law at Brigham Young University.)
Prior to rejoining the firm full-time, Mr. Floyd served as an Associate Professor (1980-1981), Professor (1981-2008), and Francis R. Kirkham Professor of Law at Brigham Young University Law School where he taught courses on antitrust, complex litigation, federal courts and civil procedure.
An accomplished legal scholar, Mr. Floyd is currently collaborating on a new law school text book entitled “Complex Litigation” that is scheduled for completion in 2009, and a treatise entitled “Understanding Complex Litigation,” with a submission date in 2010.
