    Employment Tax Audit Task Force

    Pillsbury's Employment Tax Audit Task Force brings together attorneys from our nationally recognized Executive Compensation & Benefits, Tax and Employment Law practices. The Task Force was formed in response to the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) announcement in late 2009 that it will begin its first Employment Tax National Research Project (ET NRP) in 25 years. The ET NRP will span three filing years, 2008 through 2010, and will focus on employment tax issues, with a specific emphasis on worker classification, officer compensation, fringe benefits, and employee expense reimbursement.

    The goal of Pillsbury's Task Force is to help taxpayer clients understand and navigate the latest developments of the IRS' ET NRP, as well as to monitor and counsel on the implications of proposed legislation in the areas of worker misclassification and Section 530, among others. Attorneys on the Tax Force advise on what employers should consider doing now in anticipation of a potential audit, how to respond to an IRS audit letter, proactive measures to identify and compile records to get ready for an IRS audit, and steps to take to ensure compliance.
