Brian L. Beckerman

Brian is also an authority on the force majeure doctrine and related common law excuse doctrines as they pertain to COVID-19. He regularly advises startup clients on issues related to corporate governance and internal restructurings.

Before joining the firm in 2016, Brian was a legal intern at the Office of the Attorney General in Washington, DC, where he worked in the Public Safety Unit assisting with the prosecution of low-level criminal offenders. He also worked as an intern at the Employment Rights Unit of the Office of the Attorney General in Hartford, CT, where he assisted in defending state agencies against employment-related claims.

• Representing an international venture capital investment firm in connection with claims resulting from the bankruptcy of a professional sports conglomerate.
• Represented an insurance underwriting company in a dispute against a competitor regarding a former employee’s breach of restrictive covenants.
• Represented a multinational aerospace company in a $1 billion dispute with its subcontractor.
• Represented a major aerostructures manufacturer in a $60 million contract dispute concerning an asset acquisition.
• Represented a multinational hedge fund in nationwide, multidistrict litigation involving aviation finance venture.
• Successfully represented beneficiaries of a trust in a litigation against defendant trustee who was a one-time family friend, with possible damages under consideration. At the end of the three-day bench trial, the court granted an expansive interim order, finding for our clients, the descendants of a family that founded a major agricultural and energy conglomerate, and holding that the defendant breached his fiduciary duties. The judge ordered his immediate removal and appointed an interim trustee.

• Successfully defended a nonprofit environmental company against a $60 million contract dispute.
• Successfully defended two Attorneys General in a lawsuit regarding the enforcement of statutory law against a company engaged in printing 3D guns.
• Represented a transportation company in mediation over an $80 million rail car manufacturing dispute.
• Represented a New York City-based holding company in connection with nationwide litigation stemming from foreign and domestic environmental claims.
