LOS ANGELES— On May 3, Public Counsel presented Pillsbury partner Jennie La Prade with its Public Counsel Pro Bono Award for 2017, honoring her important and committed work on behalf of pro se litigants at the Federal Pro Se Clinic.

Public Counsel, which is the largest pro bono law firm in the nation, said that as a result of La Prade’s dedicated presence at the Federal Pro Se Clinic in the Los Angeles federal courthouse, numerous unrepresented people have been able to navigate the federal judicial system. In fact, La Prade has assisted more than three dozen pro se litigants with everything from Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) lawsuits to civil rights issues to Social Security claims. Public Counsel noted that La Prade’s willingness to assist so many vulnerable clients exemplifies the selfless dedication that is at the heart of Public Counsel’s pro bono mission.

In recognition of La Prade’s outstanding efforts, Public Counsel Pro Bono Director, David R. Daniels, and Federal Pro Se Clinic Director, Janet D. Lewis, presented her with an engraved crystal award plaque at an awards lunch held in Pillsbury’s Los Angeles office.

“We could not be prouder of you, and we cannot thank you enough, Jennie,” Daniels said.
