Julia E. Judish
Counsel |
Ms. Judish’s practice covers all facets of the employment relationship and includes both litigation and counseling. Ms. Judish litigates regularly in state and federal courts, represents clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and investigates and defends claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and local human rights agencies. Ms. Judish also serves as a legal advisor to clients on a full range of employment issues, to ensure compliance and avoid litigation.
Frequent areas of representation include claims of discrimination; sexual, age-based, or racial harassment; retaliation and wrongful discharge claims; disability accommodation issues; and employee compensation disputes. Ms. Judish's experience includes the Fair Labor Standards Act and wage and hour laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act and other leave entitlements, noncompetition agreements, contract disputes, restructurings and reductions in force, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, employment policies, and employee discipline. As a part of her practice, Ms. Judish conducts internal investigations of harassment complaints or employee misconduct and conducts management training for clients. Ms. Judish also advises on affirmative action obligations of federal contractors and has guided numerous clients through audits by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.
In addition to her employment law practice, Ms. Judish also advises on and litigates legal ethics issues.
Ms. Judish was awarded the 2009 Klepper Prize for Volunteer Excellence by the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia in recognition of her significant volunteer contribution to the organization.
