Jeffrey Jacobi
|
Mr. Jacobi practices in the Litigation and Intellectual Property departments of Pillsbury.
Litigation
Mr. Jacobi has experience in all phases of litigation, including the pleading stage, discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial, and appeal. In his first five years at Pillsbury, he has litigated six cases to verdict. As second chair, he has litigated two complex arbitrations and a 9-day state court bench trial. While at Pillsbury, Mr. Jacobi spent four months at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office where he first-chaired three misdemeanor jury trials.
Mr. Jacobi has handled a diverse array of cases in both federal and state court, representing clients at numerous depositions and hearings. He has litigated matters related to securities, trade secrets, insurance coverage, trademark and service mark infringement, environmental contamination, real property transactions, landlord-tenant disputes, breach of contract, negotiable instruments, professional malpractice, unfair competition, gift cards, internal investigations, antitrust, and tribal sovereignty.
Intellectual Property – Trademarks
Mr. Jacobi also has experience with trademark prosecution and protection. His practice includes counseling clients on protection and enforcement of all types of trademarks; clearing, securing and maintaining trademark registrations both in the United States and abroad; and trademark and domain name enforcement, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and courts.
Education
Mr. Jacobi graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review and a Notes Editor of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Mr. Jacobi published two notes in law school, Mostly Harmless: An Analysis of Post-AEDPA Federal Habeas Corpus Review of State Court Harmless Error Determinations, 105 MICH. L. REV. 805 (2007), and Two Spirits, Two Eras, Same Sex: For a Traditionalist Perspective on Native American Tribal Same-Sex Marriage Policy, 39 U. MICH. J.L. REFORM 823 (2006).
Before practicing law, Mr. Jacobi completed a two-year Teach for America assignment, teaching special education and seventh grade math and science at a public middle school in San Francisco.
