Jeffrey Stern is the leader of the Structured Products group and is located in the law firm's New York office. He has more than twenty years’ experience in structured finance and derivatives and has completed asset-based financings, securitizations, specialized fund formations and derivatives transactions involving an exceptionally wide range of asset types. His practice includes energy structured finance, derivatives documentation, CLOs, crowdfunding platforms, structured funds, complex cross-border and domestic receivables financings, structured insurance financings (Regulation Triple-X/Guideline AXXX reserve fundings, legacy portfolio solutions), structured lending, and funding/advising specialty finance companies

Mr. Stern has played a leading role in developing and refining new and emerging forms of domestic and cross-border structured financings, credit derivative structures, asset-based lending and structured credit facilities and alternate risk transfer transactions, representing investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, specialty finance companies, asset managers and private funds, among others. Additionally, Mr. Stern regularly represents clients in structuring and documenting deals involving commercial paper conduits, variable funding note structures, and the restructuring and financing of distressed assets. He also has a long history of work in Latin America, focusing on cross-border financings and derivatives transactions in Brazil and Mexico.

As with other new funding techniques, Pillsbury has taken a prominent role in the emerging crowdfunding industry, which arose from the JOBS Act (signed into law by President Obama on April 5, 2012). Mr. Stern is actively engaged with a variety of clients, such as crowdfunding platforms, broker-dealers, real estate developers, technology solution providers, investors and entrepreneurs, in structuring, documenting and providing regulatory advice and counsel regarding such alternative financing channels.

Following law school, Mr. Stern served as a law clerk for the Hon. Edward R. Korman in the Eastern District of New York.
