Jennifer Altman is the managing partner of Pillsbury’s Miami office. She has first-chaired 30 trials in state and federal courts and in arbitration forums across the United States and internationally, including the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, the ICC and the American Health Lawyers Association. Jennifer has proven success in complex bet the company cases as lead trial lawyer, but she is equally adept at providing strategic advice designed to assist clients in evaluating operational risks to avoid the pitfalls of litigation where possible. 

Jennifer co-leads our Product Liability practice, having handled high-profile product liability matters, including for a major chemical manufacturer, a manufacturer of industrial and heavy equipment and an established automotive company. She currently sits on the firm’s PFAS task force. In addition to first-chairing complex commercial cases of all types, including class action matters both on the plaintiff and defense side, a portion of Jennifer’s practice is dedicated to sophisticated health-care-related litigation, having represented most large health plans, as well as some providers. Her experience includes all aspects of trial and appellate work.

  • Represented a major chemical manufacturer in defending multiple matters arising from property damage in various product liability litigations and arbitrations.
  • Represented leading mining company in Helms Burton claims obtaining complete defense ruling that was affirmed on appeal.

  • Part of the trial team for the second bellwether trial in In Re General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litigation, MDL case in the Southern District of New York.
  • Served as lead trial counsel for group of plaintiffs in significant business theft case, including theft of the venture’s trade secrets and other proprietary information, which was affirmed twice on appeal and resulted in a judgment of over $370 million for her clients.  Bailey, et. al. v. Laser Spine Institute, LLC, et. al.
  • Defended municipality in significant consumer class action, achieving a successful resolution for the client.
  • Defended corporate officer in securities fraud class action.
  • Directly involved in various internal corporate investigations, including those for Adelphia and Enron, and led the investigation for a financial institution.
  • Part of trial team in Bush v. Gore, the case that decided the 2000 presidential election.
  • Served as lead counsel in arbitration for a health care payer relating to the theft of business opportunities and other tortious conduct that resulted in significant arbitration award in favor of the client.
  • Represented major magazine publisher in significant copyright action that helped change the landscape for collective work reproduction of copyrightable materials.
  • Directly involved in various corporate investigations of publicly traded companies, as well as those that were closely held, leading some of those investigations.
