Mr. Grenfell 's practice is focused on complex commercial litigation and appeals. He has specific experience in antitrust and securities litigation, and constitutional law (especially as it relates to government regulation of business). Representative cases include: the insolvency proceeding for Executive Life Insurance Company, where Pillsbury successfully represented creditors having disputed claims of approximately $1.5 billion, and where Mr. Grenfell had primary responsibility for the several appeals and writ proceedings (Texas Commerce Bank v. Garamendi; Commercial Nat'l Bank v. Superior Court; Texas Commerce Bank v. Garamendi; In re Executive Life Ins. Co.). Recent appeals include: In re Wholesale Electricity Antitrust Cases, (Cal. Ct. App. 2007); ABF Capital Corp. v. Osley, (9th Cir. 2005); and Lane v. Residential Funding Corp., (9th Cir. 2003).
