Pillsbury Firm Chair, James Rishwain, Jr., is featured in Learning from Law Firm Leaders, a book written by Susan Manch and Michelle Nash. Published in October by ABA Book Publishing, the book uncovers the nature of leadership within today’s law firms. Manch and Nash interviewed 31 highly effective law firm leaders and among those were 13 firm chairs including Rishwain.

“Attorneys resist change,” Rishwain told the authors. “They are trained to rely on precedent, which makes it hard to move people toward untried strategies. Often the first question they ask is, ‘What are other firms doing?’ We must push past that. If we all sit around as ask what everyone else is doing, nobody will do anything new.”
