Jack Barufka, head of Pillsbury’s firmwide intellectual property practice, and Cydney Tune, head of the firm’s copyrights group, commented on what they expect from Congress’s recent push to revise the Copyright Act.

“The challenge is finding the proper balance between protecting those who create or own copyrighted works; establishing clarity for those who want to use copyrighted works in some fashion; and encouraging development of new technologies,” Barufka and Tune said. “As we have seen from recent attempts to adopt antipiracy legislation, this goal is not easily accomplished.”
