The National Law Journal reports that Debby Baum, a partner in Pillsbury’s Washington, DC office and chair of the firm’s Litigation department, will represent celebrity chef and restaurateur Geoffrey Zakarian in a breach of contract lawsuit filed by 2016 presidential candidate Donald Trump. Zakarian announced he was backing out of plans to open a branch of his restaurant The National in a new hotel Trump is developing in downtown Washington after Trump’s controversial remarks about immigration in a June speech.

Baum tells NLJ that she and her client “were surprised by the suit, which claims more than $10 million, given Trump’s recent public statement that Geoffrey Zakarian’s withdrawal from this project wouldn’t harm Trump.”
