House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is hopeful about the possibility of getting cyberthreat data sharing legislation to the president’s desk this year, despite previous failed attempts. Some are even hopeful that a cybersecurity bill might reach Obama’s desk by Memorial Day.
Brian Finch, Global Security Services partner at Pillsbury, warns that it would be tough for the House and Senate to resolve their differences between their cybersecurity bills by Memorial Day.
“The two bills will be different enough that there will have to be a lot of negotiation before any agreement on legislation can be struck where both Congress and the White House agree on the final product,” Finch told Bloomberg BNA. “That will take some time and it also assumes we don't have another major intelligence scandal.” Click here to read the full article (subscription required).
