The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is pushing for various changes to the rules governing companies listing on the London Stock Exchange, including making more information available more quickly to all investors. Some have cautioned that the ABI’s proposed changes put the U.K. stock market at a competitive disadvantage.

James Campbell, head of Pillsbury’s London corporate and securities practice, commented “it’s good to be having the debate.”

He added, “But in the long term you have to balance the interests ... We don't want to ruin the market for ourselves by creating barriers to entry that are higher than other markets.”
