Washington, DC —Jeffrey B. Grill has been appointed to serve as managing partner of Pillsbury’s Washington, DC office, effective April 14, 2014. A corporate and securities partner who represents publicly and privately held companies in a wide range of matters, Grill currently serves as the Executive Partner for Talent Development, where he takes the lead on aligning the firm’s talent management strategies with its strategic business goals.

Grill takes over from current managing partner Christine Nicolaides Kearns. She has accepted a position as the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal & Administrative Officer with B.F. Saul Company, a privately-owned real estate company and a client of the firm for over 50 years. Consistently recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of the region's best practitioners in employment law, she has held numerous leadership roles within the firm, including serving on the firm’s Nominating and Partner Compensation Committees.

“In her 27 years with the firm, Tina has been a consummate firm-first partner who has afforded her excellent business and community relationships to elevate our firm’s profile in the mid-Atlantic region,” said Pillsbury partner James Rishwain Jr. “While she will be deeply missed here at Pillsbury, Jeffrey’s strong management credentials, including his previous work as chair of the Attorney Development Committee and as leader of the DC Corporate & Securities practice, will be vital as the firm settles into a new office in the city and as we continue to focus on areas of strategic growth.”

A leader of Pillsbury’s market-leading REITs & Real Estate Capital Markets team, in the past 10 years Grill has represented issuers in the public and private offering of over $6 billion in equity and debt securities. He advises on initial public offerings (IPOs), public senior and subordinate debt financings and Rule 144A private placements of high-yield debt as well as mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial matters. He has been with the firm since 1995.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as managing partner of the firm’s largest office, which also represents Pillsbury’s core practices and client sectors,” Grill said. “Pillsbury is home to a very skilled group of lawyers, and I look forward to collaborating with them as we grow our client base and attract top legal talent.”

Pillsbury’s Washington, DC office is the hub of the firm’s internationally recognized global sourcing and technology practices. Together with the nearby Northern Virginia office, it is also home to a nationally prominent corporate and securities practice that offers a comprehensive range of corporate, securities, financing and transactional experience; a market-leading regulatory practice that advises clients on issues ranging from energy to transportation to education and health care; a full-service intellectual property practice encompassing patents, trademarks and other intellectual property rights; and a litigation practice that is recognized nationally and throughout the mid-Atlantic region for its experience with the most difficult and cutting-edge issues.
