New York—Jonathan B. Whitney has been appointed to serve as managing partner of Pillsbury's New York office, effective January 1, 2012. A noted financial services attorney who advises international banks, corporate and private equity firms in complex financings across the technology, manufacturing, utilities, telecom and transportation industries, Whitney currently serves as firm-wide leader of Pillsbury's Finance group.

"Jon brings strong management credentials to the role of leading our New York office, which has benefited significantly from David Crichlow's outstanding leadership as managing partner over the years," said Pillsbury partner Jim Rishwain. "Jon will draw on his experience in many important firm-wide roles, including his work as Finance practice leader and past service as co-chair of our on campus recruiting committee and as a member of our attorney development and compensation committees, among others. He will also continue executing Pillsbury's ambitious growth strategy for New York, which has expanded our capabilities and client base significantly."

"It is an honor and exciting opportunity to serve as managing partner in New York, one of Pillsbury's largest offices serving so many of our strategic clients and industry sectors," added Whitney. "I look forward to working with our highly integrated global teams as we expand our talent base and our work with clients to continue Pillsbury's long history in the city."

Pillsbury traces its practice in New York City to 1868; since 1904, five firm partners have served as presidents of the New York City Bar Association.
