Pillsbury client MotionPoint Corp. this week was successful in its bid to have a $1 million federal patent judgment reversed and a competitor’s patent ruled invalid. The decision from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board overturns a declaratory judgment stemming from a 2010 lawsuit filed by TransPerfect Global Inc. in connection to an online document translation patent. According to the PTAB panel’s decision, MotionPoint sufficiently proved that TransPerfect’s patent was unpatentable under Section 112 of the Patent Act.
