The US Department of Energy has stopped making payments for a nuclear waste repository after it decided to abandon Yucca Mountain in a move that nuclear industry groups claim unfair as the government still collects fees from nuclear plants for the purpose of building such a repository, reports Dow Jones.
"I think this is really a fairness issue," said Pillsbury energy partner Jay Silberg. "They want us to keep paying, but they're not paying their fair share."
