New York and Nashville, TN—Pillsbury today announced that it will open a Professional Services Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The firm plans to begin transferring and recruiting employees for its new Nashville center in the spring of 2012 and expects the facility to be fully operational by the fall of 2012. Individuals at the new facility will include support staff who are critical to Pillsbury’s operations but who are able to work outside of the firm’s current practice offices. The center will provide services in the areas of information technology, finance, new client intake, word processing, and other non-legal professional services. Eventually, the Nashville center will have approximately 150 employees, including professionals recruited from the region as well as current professionals who transfer to the center.

Pillsbury partner Jim Rishwain explained, “As we expand our capabilities and global reach to better serve our clients, we must be forward thinking and look past the traditional models and assumptions. Integrating our core professional services in a single facility will spur innovation, create greater efficiencies and ensure our success in delivering superior client service for years to come.”

Pillsbury's CFO, Sean Whelan and CIO, Martin Metz will be relocating to Nashville to set up and run the center. "After researching and touring several cities, I am confident that Nashville has the talent, infrastructure and cost advantages we need to build a world-class service center,” Whelan said.

Whelan noted that with its affordable housing, top-notch educational institutions at every level, lower taxes and abundant cultural amenities, Nashville provides Pillsbury employees with an attractive relocation option. “The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's outstanding team was an integral partner in helping us determine how to make the most of an investment in this community for our professionals,” he added.

“For a law firm of Pillsbury’s international stature to consider all of the markets available and to choose Nashville is a tremendous vote of confidence for our community,” said Nashville Chamber CEO Ralph Schulz. “Pillsbury is one of the top law firms in the world, and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet for them in Middle Tennessee.”
