Bruce Ericson has been managing partner of Pillsbury’s San Francisco office since 2008 and is also the co-leader of the firm’s securities litigation team. He spoke to the San Francisco Business Times about his practice, management philosophy and his hobbies when he is not working.

Describing his guiding principle for good management, Ericson said, “Listen carefully to people. Delegate when I can, and stick my nose into something only when I know I can add value.”

He commented that as a litigator, “some of the toughest situations are when you’re in mediation. Do I hold or do I fold? Do I take a case to trial?”

Ericson added that what he likes best about his job is the variety. “We’re constantly seeing new things, meeting new people. The sheer variety of what we get to do keeps it constantly interesting. I would not want to do the same things over and over again.”
