Allison Leopold Tilley, an Emerging Growth & Venture Capital partner in Pillsbury’s Silicon Valley office, has been named one of The Recorder’s 2014 Women Leaders in Tech Law. The publication describes Leopold Tilley’s work with clients ranging from startups to emerging Fortune 500 companies in California’s booming tech industry. In 2013, she represented Synnex Corp. in its $505 million acquisition of IBM’s customer care unit, and she serves on the advisory board for the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.

Leopold Tilley spoke to The Recorder about what she would tell a woman starting out in tech law.

“Get involved,” she said. “Join organizations, get to know the people and the companies and jump in with both feet.”

She also commented on the unique experience of working specifically with tech companies.

“The nature of startup technology companies is that many of them are sold and while M&A deals are a lot of fun, the people that you worked with so closely one day are gone the next,” she said. “But the good news is that they then often land at a new company and you get the chance to work together once again.”
