Product Liability & Toxic Torts
Pillsbury’s product liability practice team represents national and international clients in the product liability and toxic tort arenas, applying well-honed trial, appellate, arbitration and mediation skills. We are experienced in defending against class actions and other complex multiplaintiff cases, as well as individual cases of all sizes, in both federal and state courts throughout the country.
In addition to defending lawsuits, we regularly advise corporate management, in-house counsel, risk managers and engineers on the defense of product liability matters and practical preventive measures to minimize a company’s product liability exposure. Our attorneys also counsel industrial companies with respect to environmental and safety issues raised by toxic substances; advise banks and indenture trustees in both financings and bankruptcy proceedings where an obligor’s toxic tort exposure is a major credit consideration; represent investors, borrowers and financial institutions in connection with mergers, acquisitions and dispositions involving companies with toxic tort exposures; and assist public companies with respect to disclosure issues.
We have organized the defense of cases involving hundreds of thousands of plaintiffs and a diverse list of alleged causation agents. Our attorneys are accustomed to dealing not only with the legal issues presented by such complex litigation, but also with the medical, scientific and risk assessment issues raised by such cases.
