Mr. Epling represents creditors’ and bondholders’ committees, bank groups, debtors in possession and institutional lenders in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization proceedings and out-of-court restructurings. He is the leader of the firm's New York, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Insolvency & Restructuring Practices.

Recent representations include: Congoleum Corporation as debtor-in-possession in its Chapter 11 asbestos bankruptcy; Counsel to Special Committee, Ion Communications, Inc. in its 2007 restructuring and recapitalization with NBC Universal and Citadel Limited Partnership; XO Holdings, Inc. in its 2008 debt refinancing; Chevron Corporation in its trading and joint venture relations with Enron Corporation and in Chevron's role as investor and secured lender to Dynegy, Inc.; Third Avenue Funds as lender and investor in Danielson Holdings, Inc.'s acquisition of the stock of Covanta, Inc. in Chapter 11 proceedings; Viacao Aerea Rio-Grandense (Varig, S.A.), the largest Latin American airline, in debt restructuring; Long Term Capital Management, LLP, the Management Company for Long Term Capital Portfolio, LP, in its debt restructuring; Allegheny General Hospital in its 1999 debt restructuring; the Examiner in the Citiscape Financial Corp. Chapter 11 case; Coram Healthcare, Inc. in its 1995 debt restructuring; Smith Corona Corporation, as debtor in possession in Chapter 11 proceedings; and the Official Creditors' Committee of Towers Financial Corporation.
