Richard R. Zaragoza
|
Mr. Zaragoza, who is the immediate past chair of Pillsbury's Communications group, counsels a broad range of communications-related clients, including radio and television stations, financial institutions and private equity companies, and focuses on regulatory, transactional and litigation matters. Mr. Zaragoza also represents the National Alliance of State Broadcasters Associations, an organization comprised of the State Broadcasters Associations for the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Mr. Zaragoza is a Past President of the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA). He has also served as the FCBA's Delegate to the American Bar Association. Mr. Zaragoza is a former Trustee of FCBA Foundation and received the FCBA's 1995 Distinguished Service Award. It was Mr. Zaragoza's vision to establish the FCBA Foundation which has provided over $2 million in scholarships and grants to charitable organizations, predominantly serving the District of Columbia community. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Mr. Zaragoza was a partner in the Washington, DC communications firm of Fisher Wayland Cooper Leader & Zaragoza LLP, which merged with Shaw Pittman LLP in April 2000. From 1969 to 1972, he served as an attorney with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), initially in the Broadcast Bureau and later with the Appellate Litigation Division of the Office of General Counsel. Mr. Zaragoza has written numerous articles and he is also a regular speaker at various national and state industry conventions and seminars.
