Eileen J. O'Connor
Pillsbury has extensive experience in the tax accounting issues that are so fundamental to the determination of tax liability and to its presentation on financial statements.
Pillsbury’s tax lawyers have handled the tax accounting issues that arise in connection with all lines of business activities, including manufacturing, construction, financial institutions, transportation, professional sports teams, and energy production. Our work ranges from planning and consulting on the most tax-efficient accounting methods and procedures to handling tax accounting controversies in IRS audits and litigation. We also have extensive experience representing our clients before the IRS National Office to obtain consent to beneficial tax accounting method changes.
Members of our FIN 48 Task Force also regularly counsel clients in connection with the issues raised by Financial Accounting Standards Board Interpretation No. 48, “Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes.”
Our advice on tax accounting issues is uniquely informed by our experience handling tax accounting controversies not only at the administrative level, but also all the way through to litigation in federal trial and appellate courts. Our team includes lawyers who have worked in national accounting firms, the IRS National Office, and in the Department of Justice’s Tax Division. One of our lawyers has been an adjunct professor of tax accounting in the graduate tax program of a prominent law school.
