NEW YORK – Brian McKenna, a seasoned M&A, private equity and financial services practitioner, has joined Pillsbury’s Corporate practice in New York as a special counsel. He was previously a partner with Mayer Brown.

With a broad transactional practice, McKenna handles private equity and venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments globally. He advises financial institutions, investment funds, family offices and sovereign wealth as well as operating companies and their corporate venture capital and strategic investment businesses. His practice spans a broad range of industries, with a focus on financial services, technology, financial technology, media and telecom. McKenna also regularly advises investment funds and limited partners on co-investments, secondary transfers, consortium investments and related governance matters. He also works with various regulatory regimes on financial services and foreign investment issues such as CFIUS, and on privacy and data regulations and licensing for FinTech business models.

The New York team has grown significantly in recent months with the additions of M&A and private equity dealmakers Jarrod Murphy and Ted Powers, international M&A partner Augusto Lima, and international dealmaker Jon Lyman. Additionally, Pillsbury hired a highly regarded five-lawyer leveraged and acquisition finance group led by partners Michael Michetti, Joel Simon and Joseph Fastiggi in 2018, as well as corporate partner Michael Flynn, who advises early- and growth-stage technology and life sciences clients.
