Employers hope that wellness programs can increase productivity, improve worker retention, and boost bottom-line results. As a prerequisite, these programs must comply with a variety of federal and local rules, including the newly-released HIPAA/ ACA wellness regulations. During this fall’s open enrollment period for calendar year plans, employers will be introducing employees to their new wellness programs as well as to various plan changes compelled by ACA requirements taking effect in 2014 and 2013’s ERISA and tax case law developments. This presentation introduces the new wellness regulations and identifies open enrollment compliance and communication strategies for common 2014 plan changes.
