EU Privacy: Update on the New Law and How to Deal with Enforcement Issues

The European Union’s new data protection rules, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), could well be finalized in 2014. As there are a number of key new provisions, businesses (including US ones) that operate in the EU, or offer goods/services to the EU, or even just monitor/profile EU "data subjects", are likely to be impacted with increasing fine levels and obligations, requests to disclose/"port"/remove data and audit and enforcement action from regulators.
