A member of 11 bars, including the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th and 11th Circuits, West began his career as an associate at Cushman Darby & Cushman, where he rose to partner within five years, and remained with the firm when it was acquired by Pillsbury in 1996. He joined Howrey in 1999, and since then has led a number of district court and appellate matters involving a wide range of technologies, as well as serving as mediator, arbitrator and Special Master to assist other patent litigants in resolving their disputes.
A member of BNA's Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal's Editorial Advisory Board for many years, West repeatedly has been recognized for his legal acumen and vast IP experience by numerous third-party publications, including Best Lawyers in America (more than 20 consecutive years), Chambers USA, International Who's Who of Patent Lawyers and Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Practitioners.
