Patty's practice focuses on global trademark and copyright protection and enforcement.  Her experience includes trademark clearance, prosecution and protection worldwide, for clients of all sizes with brands used in a wide variety of industries. She also has extensive experience with trademark and copyright policing and disputes, including oppositions and cancellations before U.S. and overseas trademark offices, domain name disputes, and online content take-down proceedings. 

Representative Experience

  • Successfully brought a domain name proceeding on behalf of online ticket marketplace, StubHub, against a notorious cybersquatter with nearly 125 typo variations of the StubHub domain name, all pointed to his infringing "StubHome" website.
  • On behalf of hospitality company, Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, managed a successful multi-year initiative in China to enforce the company's unique logo against multiple infringers on the basis of novel copyright and trademark infringement theories.
  • For cosmetic company, Lilah Beauty, obtained a federal trade dress registration for the distinctive shape and design features of its unique cosmetic container, positioning the company to enforce its rights against "copycat" product packaging.

Professional Highlights

  • Member of the International Trademark Association's "Unreal Campaign" Committee, a public awareness initiative to educate teens on the dangers of buying counterfeit goods and help them become smart consumers in the global marketplace.
