Kimberly Moore, a DC-based Tax senior counsel at Pillsbury, was appointed as Fellow by The Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics for her outstanding contribution to the field of animal ethics worldwide.

This rare accomplishment is offered only once to successful individuals within their lifetime and is by invitation or nomination only. The process of selection is rigorous and individuals appointed have to have made (or be capable of making) an outstanding contribution to the field of animal ethics. “All these individuals are pioneering new work in animal ethics –helping to press the envelope in terms of new thinking,” said Director of the Centre, Professor Andrew Linzey.

Pillsbury Tax senior counsel Kimberly Moore specializes in federal income tax law, private equity investments and public private partnerships and is a national expert on tax advantaged affordable housing programs. She is an active member of the D.C. Bar, an associate member of the Virginia State Bar and a member of the Animal Law Committee of the ABA. She is the Director of Public Relations for Fur Free Society, Inc. and has worked on state legislation to ban the sale and manufacture of fur.

Moore has also represented and advised animal welfare organizations on formation and fundraising matters and has assisted organizations in obtaining their I.R.S. 501(c)(3) status. In 2018, she gave the keynote address at the Fifth Annual Oxford Animal Ethics Summer School on Animal Ethics and the Law. Additionally, she is currently working on a book that will examine why our legal treatment of animals matters for humanity.
