Barbara Croutch represents U.S. and Asian clients in a wide range of corporate, energy and litigation matters, including manufacturing, breach of contract and energy-related projects.
A partner in the Pillsbury’s Litigation practice, Barbara handles class actions, commercial litigation, personal injury and complex product liability and toxic torts litigation. She represents companies in personal injury and wrongful death actions alleging injuries due to asbestos, silica, aluminum oxide, emissions, rat bite fever, bird fever and zoonotic diseases. She has also represented clients in a variety of other product liability and commercial actions, including automobile, antitrust, contract and real estate disputes.
She is a former Staff Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Critical Care specializing in Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Cardiovascular Surgery and Trauma.
Successfully defended major Japanese manufacturer and several of its U.S. subsidiaries in ICC Arbitration in California involving the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (“SONGS”) that stemmed from claimed failure of certain critical components manufactured and supplied by our clients with claims exceeding $7 billion, and awarded fees and costs as the “prevailing party” in excess of $58 million.
Served as National counsel successfully defending major Pet retailer in 4-week jury trial against a $20 million wrongful death claim involving a ten-year-old boy who died after allegedly contracting rat bite fever (“RBF”) from a rat sold by our client.
Represented a major Japan-based manufacturer in a cross-licensing dispute before the ICC Arbitration in Switzerland concerning nuclear technology licensing agreements with claims that exceeded $500 million.
Successfully defended two major Japan-based manufacturing companies and several of their U.S. subsidiaries in federal and state court cases arising out of claims for forced labor during World War II.
Represented clients in $60 million “family dispute” involving a marriage dissolution, breach of marital fiduciary duties and breach of an oral agreement before a three-judge panel in a private binding arbitration.
- Represented a spouse in a two-phase bench trial in a complex marital dispute involving an estate in excess of $350 million.
- Represented a major financial institution in an action involving $100 million lender liability claim, culminating in a defense verdict.
