Branden Lau

Branden Lau advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors, investment banks, and REITs across a wide range of industries, including sports, media, entertainment, telecommunications, consumer products, real estate and energy. He advises clients through all phases of a transaction, including drafting transaction documents, conducting due diligence to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations, and preparing SEC filings.

Prior to joining Pillsbury, Branden was an associate at the New York office of another international law firm.

Representative Experience

Advised Algonquin Power & Utilities in the $2.5 billion sale of its renewable energy business to LS Power.
Advised LIV Golf in its formation, development and all general corporate matters related to league operations, including preparation and negotiation of league and team governance documents, league sponsorship and licensing agreements and player contracts.
Advised the New York Islanders NHL team in their development of UBS Arena at Belmont Park, a $1.5 billion project, and related corporate and real estate matters.

Advised Spin Master in its pending acquisition of Hapiko.

Advised Crestone Air Partners in its acquisition of Arena Aviation Capital.

Advised RedBird Capital Partners in its investment in Hidden Pigeon Company, a holding company owning the intellectual property of the best-selling children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems.

Advised RedBird-IMI, a joint venture between International Media Investments and RedBird Capital Partners, in the formation and development of EverWonder Studio, an independent content studio focused on financing, producing and distributing features and series.

Advised Yankee Global Enterprises in its minority investment in A1 Padel, an international padel circuit tour based in Monaco.

Advised Maximum Effort Investments, an investment company owned by Ryan Reynolds, in its bid to purchase a controlling interest of the Ottawa Senators NHL team.

Advised NANO Nuclear Energy in its $13 million acquisition of Secured Transportation Services.
