VietJet v FW Aviation: Latest Developments
In the ongoing VietJet v FW Aviation case, the Court of Appeal has dismissed VietJet’s appeal in totality; the ruling will be warmly welcomed by aircraft finance creditors.
Hannah is experienced in acting for a range of financial institutions and aircraft leasing companies in connection with the financing, refinancing, sale, purchase, novation and leasing of aircraft on a cross-border basis.
Prior to joining the firm, Hannah worked for an international law firm in their global asset finance practice and has undertaken two separate secondments in the aviation industry to PK AirFinance and Goshawk Management Limited.

- Served as counsel to an Irish leasing company in relation to internal restructuring of its portfolio of aircraft on lease to airlines in over 60 different jurisdictions.

- Served as counsel to the borrower in connection with the warehouse bridging financing of a portfolio of aircraft on lease to numerous airlines.
- Assisted the borrower with refinancing of its $500m warehousing financing.
- Represented the finance parties in relation to the Islamic financing, sale and lease-back of aircraft in the United Arab Emirates.
- Assisted the finance parties in connection with the direct airline financing of a portfolio of over 40 aircraft objects as part of the airline’s restructuring process.
- Advised the arranger in relation to a $750m unsecured financing to an Irish leasing company.
- Represented the financing parties in connection with the enforcement of security to secure the prepayment of loans relating to aircraft on lease to Russian airlines following the introduction of sanctions.
- Served as counsel to a syndicate of insurers in relation to the financing of numerous aircraft using the Balthazar insurance product.
- Advised an aircraft manufacturer in relation to the sale of promissory notes in excess of $400 million.
- Advised an Irish leasing company in relation to its sale of a portfolio of aircraft on lease to different airlines.
- Served as counsel to the finance parties in relation to a solar energy financing in Malaysia.
- Represented the sponsors in relation to the financing of electric rolling stock in Germany.
