James Dickinson focuses his practice on all aspects of insolvency and restructuring while utilizing his engineering background to solve complex business problems.

Prior to joining Pillsbury, James spent over a decade as an engineer in the upstream oil and gas industry, giving him a unique perspective when it comes to anticipating client needs in this sector. James’ background also includes studies in chemical and biomedical engineering, which allow for extensive firsthand knowledge of complex issues for clients in the energy and biotech sectors.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully represented largest creditor in a complex chapter 11 case involving the leading Akaushi beef provider, resulting in 100% cash escrow for client’s claim in Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Represented large financial services corporation in connection with the rollup of direct and indirect equity interests in a large portfolio of low-income housing tax credit properties into a master equity fund—as well as an offering of interests in the multi-billion dollar master fund. This transaction represents one of the largest secondary market offerings in the history of the low-income housing tax credit industry.
  • In re EFO Holdings, L.P. (Bankr. N.D. Tex.): Represent trustee as special litigation counsel and judgment creditors as counsel in the collection of a judgment in excess of $400 million, involving allegations of fraudulent transfer and breach of duty.
