Jose Lua-Valencia focuses his practice on general and complex commercial litigation matters.  

Jose has experience in commercial litigation related to contract disputes and insurance recovery. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Jose was a law clerk at the East Bay Community Law Center’s housing clinic, where he advocated for low-income tenants facing a variety of housing issues. He was also a fellow during law school, providing academic support to first-year criminal law students.

Representative Experience

  • Representing global developer and manufacturer of pipe joining systems in insurance coverage litigation.
  • Obtained dismissal of lawsuit alleging “single business enterprise” and corporate “alter ego” liability for PACA violations, breach of contract, and breach of guarantee.
  • Represented the general contractor of an adjacent construction project in a lawsuit alleging that construction activities contributed to the settling and tilting of the Millennium Tower.
