Kristen Sharp advises clients on a variety of state and local taxation issues with a primary focus on property tax and transfer tax matters.

Kristen assists clients with property tax and transfer tax matters ranging from planning and compliance to administrative appeals and litigation. She has experience with return preparation, audit defense, assessment appeals, disaster relief, welfare exemptions, and Proposition 13 reassessments. She has helped taxpayers achieve value reductions on issues related to new construction, double assessment, change in ownership, and functional and external obsolescence. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Kristen worked in the property tax practice at a Big 4 accounting firm.

Representative Experience

  • Securing a $33 million value reduction on the base year assessment of a new corporate campus
  • Settling an audit resulting in a $20 million value reduction related to double assessment of leasehold improvements
  • Negotiating a $36 million value reduction due to inutility at two natural gas power plants
