He has 18 years of experience in providing strategic intellectual property counseling, developing patent portfolios, patent and trademark prosecution, technology transactions, licensing, litigation and post-grant proceedings before the Japan PTO. His proficiency in intellectual property practice in Japan and abroad adds great value to his advice to clients doing business in Japan and Japanese clients doing business abroad.

  • Representing a Japanese sports gear manufacturer in a Japanese patent litigation and invalidity trial against the asserted patent in parallel with assistance in a corresponding U.S. patent litigation and IPR.
  • Assisting a U.S.-based medical device giant in enforcement of its important trademark in Japan and protecting the trademark from invalidity action.
  • Counseling a Japanese software company on strategic patent portfolio procurement actions and developing strong patent portfolios in several key business areas.
