Surui Qu’s practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property litigation, including patent litigation and trade secret disputes.

Surui has worked with global clients in cases spanning a broad range of technologies, including optical sensing, chemical processes, automotive, software and wireless communications. Surui has experience in all phases of intellectual property litigation, including drafting complaints and infringement claims, performing trial research and preparing settlement agreements to resolve complex patent cases.

Prior to joining Pillsbury, Surui worked in the Shanghai and Silicon Valley offices of a major international law firm headquartered in Asia. In addition to her experience litigating in U.S. courts, Surui also has experience litigating intellectual property cases in Chinese courts, at many stages of the litigation process from drafting pleadings, fact and expert discovery, trial and appeal.

    • Conducted comprehensive compliance and legal risk assessment for Alipay of its mini-program project, industry shaping concept enabling customers to access “use it and go” sub-applications without leaving the app.
    • Performed compliance and legal risk assessment of online business account opening project for a U.S.-based top-ranking bank with about 2,500 branches worldwide.
    • Performed risk assessment and advised for AI chip manufacturer on open-source license and implications of the Export Administration Regulations on open-source software project.
