Thomas Burnham advises entrepreneurs, investors and emerging growth companies across a wide range of industries throughout every stage of their business journey—from formation and seed funding to venture capital financings, strategic transactions and exits. His practice focuses on corporate, emerging company and venture capital (ECVC), and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) matters.

Prior to joining Pillsbury, Thomas practiced at a transatlantic law firm, where he advised technology and growth-stage companies on a variety of corporate and transactional matters. He also previously served as an attorney-advisor in the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Office of the Inspector General, where he led investigations into fraud, waste and abuse within the agency. This regulatory experience sharpened his ability to identify and mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and bring a regulator’s perspective to corporate and transactional work—particularly for clients in the financial and technology sectors.
