Zandir Morton focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, including trademark, copyright, patent and trade secret matters; complex commercial litigation; and employment litigation matters, including individual, class and representative claims.

Zandir adeptly guides clients through alternative dispute resolution and all phases of federal and state litigation, from initial case assessment to discovery, motion practice (including dispositive motions), trial and appeal. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included providing legal services to low-income tenants in eviction proceedings and other housing disputes with their landlords, representing a nonprofit arts organization in employment matters, and representing clients seeking asylum in the United States.

Zandir is the local office representative for Pillsbury Pride and has served on multiple committees for the San Francisco office, including: the Attorney Development Committee; Summer Programs Committee; Diversity & Inclusion Committee; and Recruiting Committee. He further engages with the local community as a member of the board of directors of the AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP); a member of the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF); and a volunteer mock trial coach for Balboa High School.

Representative Experience

  • Represented Hyundai Motor Company and Hyundai Motor America in trademark infringement lawsuit against sellers of illegal “gray market” auto parts in the United States. After the Nevada judge entered judgment on Hyundai’s Rule 68 offer for $75,000 to resolve the suit, Zandir drafted a motion for attorneys’ fees (opposed by the defendants) that the court granted in the amount of $551,373 after deeming the case as “exceptional” under trademark law.
  • Represented Hyundai Motor America and Hyundia Motor Company in an ITC matter to stop the importation of illegal, gray-market service and repair parts using the Hyundai trademarks in which the ITC issued a limited exclusion order, cease and desist orders, and a consent order against four automotive parts dealers, including the U.S. dealer, the middleman, and the suppliers.  (Certain Replacement Automotive Service and Collision Parts and Components Thereof, Inv.   • Represented blockchain and NFT developer in claims of trademark infringement over the name of a cryptocurrency, resulting in an injunction issued in favor of our client and a highly favorable settlement.

  • Represented mobile app developer against major food brand for copyright and trade dress infringement relating to mobile apps, leading to highly favorable confidential settlement.
  • Defended board of directors and CEO of professional medical corporation against claims brought by a former director for breach of contract, defamation, and related claims.  Zandir drafted a motion to dismiss that was granted with prejudice as to all causes of action.
  • Represented investment funds in claim against early employee of tech company for breach of stock purchase agreement, resulting in a highly favorable confidential settlement.
