ASAE will host a webinar on Tuesday, April 21 at 12 pm ET to discuss the COVID-related advocacy efforts of associations and to break down provisions in the $2.2 trillion CARES Act enacted three weeks ago.

While the CARES Act provides relief for many individuals, small businesses and nonprofit groups, trade and professional associations experiencing severe revenue losses during the ongoing pandemic were excluded from the popular Paycheck Protection Program, which exhausted its $350 billion funding capacity this week. ASAE’s ongoing conversations with congressional offices suggest the 501(c)(6) community’s pleas for help are being heard, but it remains to be seen whether and when Congress will act on the next phase of COVID-19 legislation.

Panelists on the webcast discussing the CARES Act and the forecast for future legislation to assist associations include Julia Judish, special counsel, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP; Sandra Swirski, partner, Urban Swirski & Associates; and Mary Kate Cunningham, CAE, vice president of public policy, ASAE.
