Partner Anthony Raven and senior counsel Dan LeFort in the Tokyo office's Energy & Infrastructure Projects section, will set out the basic MSA framework and provide a history of how the 2009 and 2012 MSA forms were developed and provide a brief explanation of the changes made in the latest draft. The speakers will then describe in more detail some of the customary issues that come up in negotiating this MSA such as: Buyer's Failure to Take; Seller's Failure to Deliver; Off-spec Quality; Liability Regimes; Force Majeure and Diversion.

Following this, former Congressman Greg Laughlin, senior counsel in the Washington, D.C. office's Government Law & Strategies section, will provide a brief update on the status of the regulatory approvals of the numerous LNG export terminals being processed in the U.S.
