The 2018 edition of the annual PTAB Handbook has been released by Bloomberg BNA. The Third Edition of the all-inclusive guide helps IP practitioners navigate the complex and ever-changing rules and procedures that govern the Patent Trial and Appeal Board hearing process. Pillsbury partner William Atkins has served as Editor-in-Chief of the publication since its inaugural edition and again spearheaded the extensive research it contains.

Established as a streamlined alternative to slower, more expensive IP litigation in federal court, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board has overseen more than 7,100 petitions and rendered thousands of decisions since its inception. Atkins’ book continues the careful review and analysis of the decisions issuing from the PTAB and uses them to thoughtfully describe how and why the Board applies its rules and makes its decisions.

The Third Edition of The PTAB Handbook arms readers with the latest, most effective strategies to employ before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. The new edition includes detailed discussion of decisions dating back to the PTAB’s inception in 2012, as well as pertinent U.S. Supreme Court and Federal Circuit decisions. It is the most comprehensive and up-to-date book available on PTAB procedure and is an invaluable resource to those who practice or would like to practice before the PTAB.
