A trial set to start in Kansas City will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at one law firm's allegedly faulty response to a data breach in what experts say could serve as a wake-up call for an industry increasingly at risk of cyberattacks, according to Law360.

"Law firms increasingly are fielding requests-slash-directives from their clients for audits: Are they following certain standards or guidelines?" said Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Privacy partner Brian Finch, who is writing a book about law firm obligations when facing data breaches. "We're seeing a lot more of that these days."
