Twice each day, gravitational forces cause 160 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out of the Bay of Fundy, shaping the world-famous Hopewell Rocks. The environmental, geopolitical, economic and technology forces shaping utility regulation in Canada are equally powerful – but not nearly as predictable. The 2020 CAMPUT Conference will focus on how customers, industry and regulators influence and respond to these environmental, geopolitical, economic and technology forces in the electricity and natural gas sectors.

The conference brings together the perspectives of regulators, customers, regulated entities, and other stakeholders to a single forum focused on addressing the most current topics in the national (and international) regulatory community.

Jeff will participate as a panel speaker during “Going Nuclear: Is small nuclear its beautiful future?” The panel, moderated by Jason Cameron, Vice President & Chief Communication Officer, CNSC, will begin at 3:00pm. As Canada and the world address the challenge of climate change, there are signs of renewed interest in nuclear energy as part of the solution for low carbon energy. Attention is focused on ‘small modular reactors’ that promise to be inherently safe, factory-built and transportable. The applications range from on-grid, small grid to off-grid (including oil sands and mining). A panel of diverse experts will discuss the prospects and the challenges in ‘going nuclear’ for a low carbon future.
