A U.S. District Court judge in California has confirmed a $1 million arbitration award issued to Pillsbury client CEEG (Shanghai) Solar Science & Technology Co, effectively enforcing a December 2013 decision by the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

The company has been engaged in a contract dispute with Sunvalley Solar Inc. after Sunvalley failed to fully pay Shanghai SST for $1.67 million worth of solar modules purchased under two sales contracts in 2010. According to coverage of the decision on Law360, Judge Philip S. Gutierrez concurred with Shanghai SST’s claim that Sunvalley failed to prove that any of the defenses in the New York Convention on the Recognition of Foreign Arbitral Awards applied in the case.

Shanghai SST is represented by Litigation partner David Furbush and associates Justin Brossier and Elaine Lee.
