SAN DIEGO – Pillsbury advised Carlsbad-based CortiCare in its recent acquisition of Physicians Ancillary Services, which offers a test that detects abnormalities in brain waves.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

CortiCare provides health-related services, including brain monitoring, through electronic and telecommunication technologies. The deal will allow the company to expand its health services and expand its investment in brain monitoring technologies. The deal follows CortiCare’s recent acquisition of the EEG assets of New York-based Safe Passage Inc., which provides ambulatory brain monitoring services. Additionally, San Diego-based private equity firm HCAP Partners has entered into a partnership and investment in CortiCare. As a result, the company is seeking additional acquisitions of high-quality neuro-based diagnostic companies.

Pillsbury Corporate partner Christian Salaman led the deal along with Mustapha Parekh, Patrick Klingborg and Margaret Beale-Wirsing, all in San Diego.
